Getting Your Own Dream … A Dollar Short and a Day Late

Monday, August 21st, 2006

So I was crawling the web … like I do… and I came across this http://www.slamsolutions.com/index.html

I *BELIEVE* it is a company started up by some of my ex-coworkers to do exactly what we did at our old company Applied Innovation Management

Ok, first off… how shall I begin. Well lets start positively… good luck to them, and I really mean it. They are good hard working people who deserve the benefit of their efforts. I would reccommend the people highly.

Now, time for the rant…. Ummm … have you guys been watching the news and business trends? Software is OUT. Especially software from small little firms supported by 3 people. I totally get it is the “safe” situation in that “a devil you know is better then one you don’t” but why invest in someone elses dream… time to get your own. Many of the things that sucked at my old job weren’t just the management, it was dealing with customers, support, sales… all the businessy shit. Why would you ever intentionally get into that field again… you guys are free?!? It is the behavior of a woman that likes to be abused. You can put your talents ANYWHERE…. even other software. Don’t be stuck in that sick sick cycle. Go out and become content providers. Create communities…. even a NEW software idea. BE CREATIVE. The world does not need YET ANOTHER WEB BASED HELPDESK SYSTEM…. and especially one written in ASP (Hint: Ruby & Rails… it is what all the cool kids are doing now).

Again, I do wish them all the best of luck in all their business endevours… whatever they choose… and I will smile at them as I crank up my music and design some funky art sitting in my pjs with my coffee as they are answering technical support calls :)
