What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 is a huge buzzword that I come across dealing with design. I get a lot of requests to make web pages “Web 2.0″ from “Web 1.0″. Now I know from experience that they mean “stylesheet driven, tableless, gradient, round edged Ajax event sites.”, when indeed that really has nothing to do with Web 2.0 … except in fact that you could say “that music is very 60s” or “the house is designed very 70s” which really means nothing, but we all know what it means. Does that make sense?
Anyway, Tech Crunch has done a great video about what Web 2.0 is. If you ever wanted to know about Web 2.0, I advise you check it out… for those of you who don’t have 24 minutes to better your life… the video basically says Web 2.0 is a time period after the dot com crash where power of the web is starting to move into our real lives… when web tools and web apps are fundamentally integrated into our daily lives. From a business model is means application and services that are user friendly, quick and fast to implement as the early adopter and fundamental user base is no longer geeks.
